because every post was starting to sound redundant..

I feel like I want to post more about my day-to-day experiences here, and the stuff I’m learning and the mini-adventures we have, instead of all night-life-related stories.

So here it goes. And this one’s starting off with another night-life one.

HARRY POTTER SEVEN came out. That was awesome; we took the shuttle to the theater around 7:30PM, stood in line at 8:45, just chilled in the theater with super awesome seats until previews started at 12, with the actual movie at 12:30AM, and then ending at 2:45, but then after waiting for a taxi, none ever came so we hopped onto the MTA, walked from around Giant back to campus, freaked out as at least 50 crows suddenly took flight and crashed through the trees, and arrived back to the dorms safely around 4:00AM.

All in all, a great night. And perhaps it took all of that bonding time just lazily sitting in theater seats for hours on end to finally reached the resolution that I don’t want a boyfriend as of right now. I guess I just liked the whole idea of being liked, since that hadn’t happened since a ‘saint’ had come by years ago. Odd how that still kind of bothers me while he’s probably all but forgotten about me by now. Little fucker.

Anyways, other mini adventures. So far I’m doing alright with my ‘try a new thing every week’ deal! I’ve explored Towson a bit, both the department store area, the gigantic mall (and my adorabe WetSeal <3), and as of today, the AMC theater. Food-wise, I’ve tried Silk Road, Carma’s, Maxie’s, Niwana, and probably a few others. Volunteering-wise, I’ve joined a teaching program at a nearby elementary school to tutor kids in piano, I’ve helped cook at IFC and at Our Daily Bread, and hopefully I can soon sign up for Relay for Life. The campus events around here are pretty baller as well; from freaking crazy haunted houses (not really that creepy for normal people, but when you go in with a group of 3 other equaly as scared girls, the screaming that ensues is pretty much entirely run off positive feedback), to movie nights, to giant inflatable slides for Pirate Weekend, to my first ever karaoke experience, to learning how to cook!, to Lupe Fiasco, to IAC’s Masquerade Ball, to exploring Inner Harbor, to participating in a research experiment at the med campus, to just so many other things that go on all the time. I mean yeah, some days can be more boring than others, but overall I’ve had a hell of an awesome time here so far.

The academics part I feel like I’m lacking in a bit. After so many schedule mishaps this semester, I’m hoping next semester I’ll really feel like I’m getting something out of tuition by actually learning. This semester, the only class I feel is productive is Calc 2; everything else is kind of a time killer. But I really hope that if I can get into Design Team next semester, or find research, or start planning for a baller Study Abroad experience, then I’ll eventually get the awesome knowledge that should come with this program’s stellar education system.

So while some weeks are spent being more of a hermit than others, I think I’m getting a bit more used to coming out of my shell. Sure, I still love my privacy and just being able to goof off on the internet for hours on end, but getting outside and appreciating the atmosphere I’m in is loads of fun too.

Throughout the next few years here I hope to really get to know more about Baltimore as a city in general and get to see the quirky towns and cultures nearby; try more restaurants and get a feel for other types of food; really get involved in the medical campus hopefully through a research/internship position; perhaps study abroad!; and overall to just really get to call this place a second home. Yeahhh. Life is Good.
